Questionmark White Paper Explores the Use of Assessments in SharePoint

Surveys, quizzes and tests involve learners directly with online content

Norwalk, CT – June 21, 2011 – A new white paper from assessment technologies and services provider Questionmark explores how assessments can be used within Microsoft SharePoint to support activities in learning, education, training and compliance.

Learning and Assessment on SharePoint discusses the increasing use of SharePoint, a widely used tool for creating collaborative Web sites for education, training and compliance. The paper cites the growing recognition that people learn more from experience and from other people than they do from formal study. It explains how many different types of assessments can be used within SharePoint to provide retrieval practice, motivate learners and measure knowledge, skills and attitudes.

The free, 20-page paper shows how to include assessments within SharePoint, either by embedding them in a page or by presenting a list of assessments for a participant to click on. The paper also describes how diagnostic, formative, needs, reaction and summative assessments can enhance the value of blogs, wikis, information repositories and other online resources.

The paper applies to SharePoint 2010 (including Foundation, Server and Enterprise), SharePoint 2007 (including WSS and MOSS) and Office 365’s SharePoint Online. It can be downloaded at www.questionmark.com/us/whitepapers.

“SharePoint is used by the majority of Fortune 500 and other large corporations as well as many universities and colleges,” says Questionmark Chairman John Kleeman, noting that improvements in SharePoint 2010 are increasing its applicability to education, training and compliance. “SharePoint’s great strength is that it allows users to build collaborative Web pages and sites easily, without technical knowledge. Adding assessments to those resources is easy to do, too, and it adds tremendous value to them.”
